Till 2025

I’m Siva.

I didn’t arrive at music with a plan. It was always around — in my family, in my childhood, in the background of everyday life — and at some point I realized I never really left it. Singing came first, then questions. About sound. About meaning. About whether I was good enough, serious enough, ready enough.

I learned music slowly and imperfectly. I tried, failed, learned again. I moved between being a singer, a learner, a sound engineer, a listener — sometimes confident, often unsure. I’ve worked on small projects, practiced in quiet rooms, taken opportunities that scared me, and written about the parts nobody usually talks about: doubt, starting late, not knowing where you fit, but still showing up.

My music comes from that place — not ambition, not image, but experience. What life feels like when you’re figuring things out. When love is confusing. When progress is uneven. When you’re proud one day and questioning everything the next.

I write songs. I work with sound. I’m building something slowly. I document the process at Chronicles of a Musician because the journey matters as much as the result.

This isn’t a finished story. It’s just an honest one  - Till 2025

Let us welcome a New year of possibilities - Happy new year 2026.

We’ve Started Somewhere

In the early phase of this blog, I spoke about February’s Favourite. Recently, it was registered under Udyam as a micro enterprise / sole proprietorship. So now, officially, we are an MSME.

I’ve brought together a team of 10 members:

  • Tumul Shukla – Co-founder & Manager

  • Satya Miishra – Operations Manager

  • Saurabh Yadav – Head of Artists & Repertoire

  • Dhaivat Aarambh – Music Academy

  • Edgevin Vihan Co. – Dance Company

  • Sahil Kumar – Music Producer & Engineer

  • Juhi Bhardwaj – Chartered Accountant

And finally, me —
Siva – Artist / Founder / Sound Engineer

As a small welcome gesture, I created “Welcome to the Team” photo frames and February’s Favourite logo keychains for everyone. The official invoices, stamps and letterheads are also ready.

The website is currently under development and is expected to go live around January.

Our first project as a company was Bombay Diaries, where we handled the complete sound work.

The objective is to cover everything related to music, we want it to be a place where the possibility of music is limitless - teaching, events, certifications, music publishing, production, engineering, listening platform, podcasts, music instruments.

We’re already looking forward to our next project in January—at a new venue, with a new set of songs, and something new once again.

I’m also preparing to release my own songs in the coming year. The direction and timing will be guided by my guru.

There’s still a lot for me to learn—sound engineering, the music business, marketing, and of course, singing.

But I think I can say that:
we’ve started somewhere, and we’ll reach somewhere.
Let’s see.

The Bombay Diaries - Set 1 Act 1

And that, my friends… was Bombay Diaries.
A story not just about a city,
but about all of us.

Rajesh and Sunita were just characters—
but what happened between them
is something every one of us has lived at some point.

Two months earlier, I got a call from the manager at Edible Routes saying they wanted to host a meetup for their farmlet owners and wanted me to perform some retro songs. I visited the place, checked everything out, and confirmed. And then — I don’t know how or when — while noting down the songs, an idea just spilled out. A story.

I’ve never enjoyed the idea of just singing a few songs and leaving. I’ve always wanted to perform with a theme, a motive, something that ties everything together. And suddenly, this was the perfect moment. I’ve been writing little stories and poems for a while… so as I listed the songs, a narrative formed… then characters… then scenes… and the songs started connecting the entire arc. It felt too perfect to ignore.

I pitched the rough idea to my friends first, and then to the manager. Both loved it.

Initially, I was asked to do the show alone, but I knew I wouldn’t be able to do justice to the idea that way. And I was right. During my sound engineering course, I’d made a friend — Sahil. He’s younger than me, but far more skilled on the technical side and a solid keys player. We’d already worked together on that Oreo jingle. So I asked him to join me for this performance.

We practiced like crazy. The main thing in a show like this is connection — the pauses, the timing, the smooth transitions. I kept refining the story, polishing the dialogues, shaping the characters… and honestly, the whole process was so much fun. And performing it in the end felt even better.

We were expecting around 150 people at the fest, but as always, plans shift. The crowd was smaller — but the ones who were there listened with so much peace and attention. Their compliments afterward meant a lot. My closest friends and my siblings were there too. We ended the night with dinner and laughter… it honestly couldn’t have been better for a first show.

And now, with all that energy, I already have ideas for Act 1 Set 2: “Lucknow Chalo”… and many more acts after that.
